Domain name
Nice and cheap. Tate Web Design only charge £10 one off fee for set up, then £15 per year for .co.uk, £25 for .com.Website
A 5 page website tailormade and designed for you will set you back about £300. We don't do mass templated websites because we think they look cheap. If you want a large site with catalogue etc. or an eCommerce site then that is likely to be around the £1000 mark, and obviously any specialist work such a Flash animation is going to cost extra. Database driven websites tend to be £2000 +. Quite simply you pay for our time. The more time, the more you pay.
Hosting
Costs £100 per year (apart from database & eCommerce sites).
You can pay less for hosting but it's not worth it. Believe me !
Maintenance
Cheap ! If you want to update your website monthly then this is unlikely to cost £10 to £20 per month. If you knowFrontpage and update the website yourself then it costs nothing! To manually submit your site monthly to the search engines and receive web stats is only £15 per month.
Do's and dont's
DO plan your site carefully and spend the time required to think about
your target audiencet, and what you want to offer. I was recently sent
content for a website that gave 80% of space to a service for the general
public & 20% to corporate clients. On talking this through it turned
out that the need was in fact quite the opposite, and the site had to
be replanned to have a mostly corporate appeal.
DON'T faff about. Your time is our time and your money !
DON'T make the mistake of thinking that your website isn't going to work.
This is a common problem as websites have so often been badly done in
the past.
